Wordpress for iPhone Review

23. July 2008 Kategorie Apple, blogging, iPhone | 0 Kommentare »

Well, obviously the application is available, so this is basically just a test to see how the iPhone works with wordpress.

It’s working pretty well, but it is 1:30 in the morning.

I just checked it out. It allows for uploading of photos from your saved photos on your phone or you can take a new picture as you right.

So let’s give it a test shall we?

FAIL.
The picture appears at the bottom of the post not where you attempt to place it. But I guess if you have a lock tight memory and HTML skills you can just post the code after you upload the picture to a photo site.

Hopefully that will be fixed. But it is not a huge deal.

All in all, this application is one of the first useful and intuitive applications in the app store.

Go word press!!

My Day is Made!

21. July 2008 Kategorie Apple, blogging, iPhone | 0 Kommentare »

According to Arn over at macrumors.com iPhone will be getting a WordPress application soon.

This will seriously allow me to update this page in a convenient fashion wherever I am.

For example, if I am in a movie theater, and I want to write a review of the movie, I can do it right there, or if a surprise trailer comes on, I can give you the news of it.

Or, I may in fact go to a presidential debate between Barack Obama and John McCain at Belmont in the fall, and cover the action from where it happens. No more waiting!

And all of you in internets land that blog will also be able to do the same thing, and might I say, it is about damn time!

The Dark Knight: Review

19. July 2008 Kategorie Batman, Comics, Nerdom, movies | 0 Kommentare »

——–Disclaimer: I didn’t want to contain any spoilers, since the movie is that fantastic, so this review is not as detailed as I would like it to be.——–

Wow, where do I start with The Dark Knight?

Maybe I should start with the fact that I am a huge movie fan, comic fan, nerd, and Batman fan, so in some aspects this movie would have made me happy, in other aspects I would be very critical of some story choices.

That being said, in no way am I disappointed with The Dark Knight(now known as TDK). All of the actors give nothing but a stellar performance, and in my eyes no one but Christian Bale can be an effective Batman/Bruce Wayne ever again, Aaron Eckhart plays the perfect duality/fair character of District Attorney Harvey Dent, Maggie Gyllenhaal takes the part of Rachel and makes it her own making Katie Holmes a thought of the past, and the rest of the supporting actors even shine and make them stand out in this film.

And just like everyone else has stated, Heath Ledger steals the show. The way he plays the Joker as an anarchist, chaos driven, evil mad man is the absolute best version of the Joker that has been conceived. The best thing about his performance is that, at no point can you tell that Heath Ledger is the actor, he absolutely makes you believe that there is no acting, there is only this maniac in clown paint, and the humor that Heath Ledger conveys at the same time while seeming completely insane is priceless, and I found myself laughing throughout the entire film.

All acting aside, the story itself takes the comic book source material and takes it completely serious. Most every detail is accurate in respect to its source and the way they did this film, makes it completely believable and realistic, something that you hardly see in comic book films.

This movie has received Oscar hype by fans, and has gained great reviews from critics and fans alike, so if you are not sure about seeing this film, do so, tonight.

I will be seeing again next Saturday in Murfreesboro, TN, if anyone wants to join me.

Also, a side note, if you are somehow confused by the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, pick up a copy of the animated feature of six mini-episodes entitled Batman: Gotham Knight, it bridges the gap successfully and leaves nothing out.

Also, if you get the chance to see it in the IMAX, do so, the feeling of gliding through the air in between buildings is something that everyone in their life deserves.

Also, I want to say that this is now one of my favorite movies of all time, as well as the BEST comic book movie ever made, and that is not opinion, that my friends, is fact.

Let’s put a smile on that face!-Heath Ledger as The Joker

Too Human Demo, Reviewed!

18. July 2008 Kategorie Gaming, Microsoft, X-Box 360 | 0 Kommentare »

Okay, sorry I didn’t do this last night but I got sidetracked and didn’t focus.

But here it goes, Okay, basically this feels like a Hack-and-Slash, but the story is pretty cool, it focuses on modern day vikings and they constantly refer to Oden, Thor, and Valkyries, in fact, if someone dies, a Valkyrie comes down to take the body to Valhalla. The game play is simple enough, sword melees and plasma gun fire are your choices of violent weaponry, but it does become rather difficult to use them properly. The right stick acts as your swings for the sword, but while your guns are out, the left and right sticks aim where you are shooting.

The enemies that I faced until the end seemed rather simple to defeat, while the final boss (it seemed, I gave up after this one) was extremely hard to defeat, not because he was a tough boss, but because it acted so glitchy when you fought him. He would throw down a hammer and it would send out pulses that would adversely affect you, but even when you jump out of the way, the pulses still kill you, and if you even touch his hammer while it is down it takes away half of your life.

All in all, it was a decent title, but the camera angles and nonsensical damage that you recieved pretty much made me put down the controller.

B-

Tales of Vesperia Hands on Demo

17. July 2008 Kategorie Gaming, Microsoft, X-Box 360 | 0 Kommentare »

Okay, I’m gonna do this real quick before I go to bed.

So here it goes…

–disclaimer, this is a game that is a work in progress, so it may differ from the final product–

Right off, graphically, there is room for improvement, it looks like a painting with anime characters walking through it…

Ehmead Hill, the barrier is gone, and I have no idea who these people are.

There is a guy named Karol.

Really cheesy, but there is a dragon, so that spells hope.

This demo seems like it is completely dialog.

Oh wow, the dog just karate kicked someone.

….

Okay, it a simple RPG with the key button being “B”. It’s seems like it is for kids, so I am putting the controller down and going to bed.

Good night!!

btw, there will a more in depth demo review of Too Human tomorrow night, so stay tuned!

Sony!

15. July 2008 Kategorie Gaming, Sony | 0 Kommentare »

Okay here’s the thing about Sony’s E3 Press Conference. A lot of cool stuff was mentioned, all but one we already knew about and that was the tentatively titled “MAG” which supports a crazy amount of Co-Op play makes it more like a war MMO, where groups of 8 can take on different tasks in a war set up, pretty cool, right?

Hell yes, the only problem is that I’m not sure how fast/good the game will go based off of a wireless internet connection with that many people. Also, there was no release date or gameplay footage given.

Little Big Planet and God of War 3 both look incredible, but we’ve known about these for sometime now, also, no release dates.

My biggest problem with this conference was that they focused too much on the PS2 and PSP, if they are serious about the next generation of gaming, PLEASE focus more attention on it. If you are trying to please gamers, then please kill off the PS2, if your last gen system still sells approximately as many units as your current gen system, there is some problem here.

My advice to Sony:

Please make your systems more affordable, kill the PS2, focus all attention on the PS3 and give us some games that will justify the $400 price tag, and God, if your systems were backwards compatible, then maybe people wouldn’t just keep their PS2’s

Thanks!

Wii News from E3 2008

15. July 2008 Kategorie Uncategorized | 2 Kommentare »

Some are asking if this year’s Nintendo Conference at E3 was one of the worst ever. However it was not the most spectacular performance, Nintendo did provide an insight into where they were headed. For one post I will not focus on the Keynote as a whole but more directly on the Wii and all the potential it still has yet to unveil to our eyes. Just like a groom getting ready to walk the aisle, I was nervous as to what Nintendo would have in-store for the Wii and the the Wii Board. Needless to say I was quite pleased with the beauty that came strolling down the aisle (or at least what she could be).
So First things first the games of INTEREST list

  • Star Wars Clone Wars
  • Rayman TV Party
  • Call of Duty World at War
  • Wii Sports Resort
  • Wii Music

Star Wars games in my honest opinion are hit or miss although I know some beg to differ, how ever at the brief glance given during today’s conference Clone Wars looks like a game to keep an eye on as well as Call of Duty World at War, the next installment to the Call of Duty family on the Wii. Nintendo also showed the next chapter in the Rayman Raving Rabbids, TV Party which if you have played any of the Rayman Raving Rabbids series on the Wii you know how entertaining this game can be, Now throw in the Wii board for skating/surfing purposes and we have a totally new Rayman as well as great opportunity for skating, surfing, and snowboarding games.

Wii Sports Resort is the newest addition to the Wii activity games.  Each copy of the game will come with a Wii Motion Plus adapter.

Wii Sports Resort will have various games centered around a day at the beach, and sword play, because no trip to the beach is complete without chopping blocks or dueling with a sibling. Some of the games included are Disc Dog (Throwing Frisbiees for a dog to catch) and Jet Ski Races launching next spring. So what is this new Motion Plus adapter? the motion plus adapter is a Wiimote add-on that increases sensitivity and can more accurately track the Wiimote movement according to your wrist and elbow positioning.

Alright, I had to save my favorite for last, the dagger into the heart of games such as Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Wii Music. Wii Music is one that musicians, and everyone who has ever dreamed of being a rock star could ever dream of (as a ground breaker). With over 50 instruments ranging from Drums to Saxphones to Cowbells yes we need more cowbells, this game is going to be a blast for music fans world wide. So what accessories are they gonna hit us with? None, and that’s the beauty. All you need is your Wiimote and numchuck and you are set to rock out on a drumkit or get down with your Kenny G bad self (if that’s what floats your boat).  This far I have to say that this is one of my favorites to come out of E3 from Nintendo. Look for it when it launches this holiday season.
